All-time record in Tokyo today

No medal, no podium for today's record. On the other hand, I think a lot of people will remember today as being one of the hottest days of the year, with 39.5C at its peak.

Actually, it is the warmest day ever recorded in Tokyo, the last record being in 1994 with only 39.1C.

From Japan Today News:

TOKYO An unprecedented heat wave hit Tokyo on Tuesday morning, with the mercury hitting an all-time high for the capital at 39.5 C shortly before 1 p.m., topping the previous record of 39.1 C recorded Aug. 3, 1994, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The new high was logged at 12:58 p.m. from an observation point in central Tokyo's Otemachi business district as temperatures soared in the Kanto-Koshin region in eastern and central Japan while a high-pressure system blanketed the Japanese archipelago, the agency said. (Kyodo News)

Neat, just what I needed after having moved into an apartment with all windows facing South!

Have you ever wondered what it feels like stepping into a micro-wave?...
